Addario Family Scholarship Fund

Mission:

The mission of the Addario Family Scholarship Fund is to annually recognize students who exhibit outstanding dedication to academic life, community service and extracurricular activities in the spirit and tradition of St. Francis de Sales.

Origin:

The scholarship has been established by Bonnie and Tony Addario.  The purpose of the scholarship is to help defray the costs of tuition for financially challenged students who commit themselves to high standards of academic achievement and service to their community.

About Anthony A. Addario ’64:

Tony Addario is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He graduated from Father Judge High School in 1964 and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force as an Engineering Technician for four years.  Tony majored in Engineering Technologies at Temple University where he graduated in 1972.  After graduation, he worked on several NASA projects as part of the Manned Space Flight Network and eventually he helped to build several leading technology companies. Tony is on the advisory board for several Silicon Valley start-ups and served as Vice-President of Worldwide Customer Support and Services at both Bay Networks and Juniper Networks.

In 2004, he retired in order to spend more time with his wife, Bonnie of 30 years, an executive of an independent Oil Company in San Francisco, who had recently been diagnosed with Stage 3B Lung Cancer.  Two years later, the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation was formed with Bonnie, a Lung Cancer survivor, leading the charge to raise money, fund research, assist lung cancer patients and promote education about Lung Cancer.  Tony and Bonnie live in the San Francisco Bay area and have three children and nine grandchildren.
